A man in Chicago is now recovering after an operation to remove a three-and-a-half inch nail from his head. The man spent an entire day with the nail, complaining only of severe headache and nausea.
32-year-old Dante Autullo fired the nail from a gun while he was working in his house. He believed that the nail had just missed his head and did not realize that it was in fact in hi brain.
Mr Autullo went to work the next day and went to the hospital to get a severe headache checked up. The doctors were amazed to discover a nail in his brain through an X-ray and carried out an operation to remove the nail.
After the incident, Mr Autullo has asked his fiancée Gail Glaenzer to check his head for injuries but she could not spot any major injury and only found a small gash. Ms Glaenzer had taken him to a nearby hospital for checkup.
Mr Autullo underwent surgery at Christ Medical Center on Thursday morning. The doctors took four hours to bring out the nail from his head. He remains in hospital and is believed to be recovering well.
