The news is that 14 cases of suspected cholera have been reported from Budhanpur village of Panchkula district of Haryana since 20 August 2009.

Giving the information to the media persons, District Health officer (DHO) Dr M L Garg convened a meeting of health officials to review the situation. He said that administration was fully prepared to tackle the sudden spurt of cholera in the area.

He also added that a special rapid action team visited the village, and distributed chlorine tablets and ORS packets.

Apart from this, the administration had also cut down the main line for water supply to the village. The administration has taken all the steps to ensure the supply of pure drinking water in the village.

Notably, the affected village is located near the slums of Rajiv and Indira colony that had been the epicenter of various cholera-related deaths last year.

Moreover, two cases of confirmed cholera had been recently reported from Maheshpur village.
