Cisco plans 3,000 new hires

Cisco-SystemWorld's largest network equipment maker, Cisco Systems Inc has said that it will be hiring 3,000 new workers. These hirings will be done on a worldwide basis and will not be done in any particular geographical area.

The announcement was made by the CEO of Cisco, John Chambers. When asked which of the segments will get most of the new workforce, John said that it will be distributed evenly between the segments and will happen in two periods.

John was talking to the media during the sidelines of an investor conference held by Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

This is in line with what John had said last month. He had told the analysts that the new hiring are going to happen since the company is putting a lot of focus on the sales and new market segments.

It should be kept in mind that Cisco generates most of its revenue from its emerging market segment. This also includes consumer products along with videoconferencing systems and smart-grid network gear for electric utilities.

The company has already hired 1,000 workers during the third quarter.
