A recent study claims that one can be relieved off depression by subjecting one to cognitive therapy, a healing method that removes negative thoughts.
It is believed that ones, who are affected with severe depression, can also break out of negative thought patterns by the help of cognitive techniques and to see events in their lives more realistically.
Daniel Strunk, study co-author and assistant professor of psychology at Ohio State University (OSU), states that a lot of work is being done in the area of behavioral approach to cure severe depression.
He adds that if a patient is subjected to the first few critical weeks of cognitive-behavioral therapy, there are heavy chances that the patient can be cured.
This study was done in close collaboration with Melissa Brotman of the National Institute of Mental Health and Robert DeRubeis of the University of Pennsylvania along with Daniel Strunk.
