Inter devices will outnumber people two to one by 2015, study According to a new study by computer-networking company Cisco Systems, the number of Internet-connected devices will be twice as much as the number of humans in the world by the year 2015.

"Six percent of Internet traffic by 2015 will be generated by one device-the tablet," said Suraj Shetty, vice president of marketing for Cisco. This indicates that tablet computer market, which emerged with the launch of the revolutionary iPad last year, will grow to significant numbers in the world.

Cisco Consumer Products announced that the new range of wireless routers get connected with all types of wireless devices including game consoles, wireless printers and even HDTVs.

The range and speed of the new routers can be adjusted according to the entertainment need of the consumers.

The routers will be available in three different models including E1000, E2000 and E3000.

Cisco to bring out 3,000 jobs for IndiaCisco Systems aims to offer 3,000 new jobs for its Indian base in Bangalore, according to a report based on India's Economic Times.

Cisco's Chief Globalisation Officer and Executive Vice-President, Wim Elfrink, said, "We are quite happy about our Indian operations. As Bangalore is the second global head office for Cisco after California, we want to increase our headcount here. We plan to hire 3,000 more in the next two years."  

As of now the California-based firm already employs around 7,000 workers in India.

World soon to witness four times increase in IP traffic by 2014The software service provider firm Cisco has released the latest edition of its Visual Networking Index, a forecast of global internet traffic that indicates a humongous increase in the Internet traffic in the times to come.

According to the recent report, it is estimated that by the year 2014 internet traffic will surge by a massive 91 per cent. This forecast suggests an overall surge in global traffic and is an indication that growth may move away from the UK, US and Europe as other markets develop a taste for being online.

Cisco plans 3,000 new hires

Cisco-SystemWorld's largest network equipment maker, Cisco Systems Inc has said that it will be hiring 3,000 new workers. These hirings will be done on a worldwide basis and will not be done in any particular geographical area.

The announcement was made by the CEO of Cisco, John Chambers. When asked which of the segments will get most of the new workforce, John said that it will be distributed evenly between the segments and will happen in two periods.

John was talking to the media during the sidelines of an investor conference held by Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

Company reported net profit of $1.9 billion or $0.32 per share during the quarter against the $1.5 billion or $0.26 per share for the comparable period of previous financial year.

Cisco explained that the new offer represents the final price for this transaction. However, the company, if fails to get the wanted 90% level of acceptances; may also withdraw the offer.  

Tandberg's shares are valued at around NOK19 billion ($3.41 billion) by the raised offer.

Cisco signs definitive pact to acquire Tandberg Nasdaq-listed Cisco Systems has decided to acquire Norwegian videoconferencing company TANDBERG.

Under the arrangement, Cisco will start a cash tender offer to buy all the outstanding shares of TANDBERG for 153.5 Norwegian Kroner per share for an aggregate purchase price of approximately US$ 3 billion.

The quoted price represents 11% premium to the previous day closing price of TANDBERG'S stock.

The deal underscores Cisco's long-term goal of dominating the market for online video-conferencing technology, which Cisco chairman and chief executive officer John Chambers described as a 34-billion- dollar market "and rapidly growing."

Cisco profit drops 46 per cent San Francisco  - Fourth-quarter profits at Cisco dropped 46 per cent as customers held back on networking gear, the company said Wednesday.

The world's biggest maker of internet-connectivity equipment reported earnings of 1.1 billion dollars, or 19 cents a share, down from 2.01 billion dollars, or 33 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue fell to 8.54 billion dollars, a drop of 18 per cent, as product sales slid 22 per cent and service sales grew 4.8 per cent.
