Chennai, Feb 7 - An entirely new team of office bearers of the United Union of Hyundai Employees (UUHE) will hold wage negotiations at the country's second largest car manufacturing company Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), which has been embroiled in labour tensions for several years, said a top union official.

Bhopal, Feb 5 - Car manufacturers are setting their eyes on smaller Indian cities and towns as markets boom for their products, particularly sale of luxury vehicles.
And one such city is the Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal where an Auto Expo is going on. At least 14 major manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW, Jaguar, Renault, and Mahindra and Mahindra, are participating in the four-day trade fair.
Hyundai Motor reports 38 per cent rise in profits

South Korea’s largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Co. has reported a 38 percent increase in profits in the quarter till December 2011.
The net income for the company rose to 2 trillion won in the quarter compared to 1.45 trillion won in the same period previous year, the company said in a filing to the regulators. Revenue of the Seol based company increased 11 percent to 20.5 trillion won.
Carmakers using movies to lure Indian buyers

Car makers offering attractive December discounts to push sales

Several car makers in India are now offering attractive discounts towards the end of the year in order to improve sales in the country.
Manufacturers are offering rebates on petrol and some diesel models to sell the stock of older models before the new year. Car sales have fallen in the country by 3.53% to 1.2 million units in the April-November period compared to the same period of 2010.
Hyundai i40 to be priced at £17,395

South Korean electronics giant, Hyundai’s new i40 saloon model will come with a starting price of £17,395 in the UK.
The new model is available with the Touring’s three main trim levels - Active, Style and Premium. The buyers will have a choice two engines, including the 1.6-litre Gdi Blue Drive or the 1.7-litre CRDi in 113bhp or 134bhp guises.
Hyundai’s UK MD Tony Whitehorn said, the new saloon “shares the same qualities found in the i40 Tourer - offering outstanding levels of fuel-efficiency, comfort, quality, and a high level of standard equipment all at an accessible price.”
Hyundai to showcase ix35 FCEV at EcoVelocity show

South Korean automotive giant, Hyundai ha said that it will showcase its new ix35 FCEV though the EcoVelocity show next week in the UK.
The Hyundai ix35 FCEV (Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle) is a variation on the electric vehicle. It gets power from a clean hydrogen fuel cell that only emits water vapour. The third-generation fuel-cell vehicle claims to run for 360 miles with a single hydrogen fill.
The company claims that the vehicle can go from 0-62mph in just 12.8 seconds and it has atop speed of 100mph. The fuel-cell mechanism is capable of working in temperatures as low as -25 degrees Celsius.

The inclusion of stop and go technology, low rolling resistance tyres, a more aerodynamic panel and a deflector for the rear wheels allows the model to reduce emissions. It offers an impressive fuel economy of 76.4mpg.

Fluidic Verna in Major Demand by Customers

Hyundai has launched the next generation of cars, Fluidic Verna sedan in India in May. Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in the country. In order to keep up with its demand, there has been an increase in production. So far, there have been 20,000 bookings and it is only increasing every day.
The care offers a 1.6 liter petrol tank and the diesel engines are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission is available for the four engine option.
Hyundai's February sales down 4.8 percent

New Delhi, March 1 : Automobile major Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) Tuesday reported a decline of 4.8 percent in its sales for February.
"HMIL's total sales for February 2011 stood at 52,007 units as against 54,610 units in February 2010, registering a decline of 4.8 percent," the company said in a statement.
Domestic sales picked up by 5.3 percent in February at 32,629 units as compared to 31,001 units in the corresponding period of last year.
Four South Korean employees of Hyundai were detained by anti-Posco activists

A group of four people were detained by Anti-Posco activists at Dhinkia village of jagatsinghpur district. The people are South Korean employees of Hyundai working with the Indian Oil Corporation refinery at paradip. They were held in custody predicting that they were Posco employees.
Villagers have spotted four Hyundai employees straying into Posco’s proposed steel plant site in Dhinkia on Sunday, said by officials in Jagatsinghpur.
Hyundai's sales and exports dip in January

It has been reported by Hyundai Motors India (HMIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, that they have witnessed a fall of 17.7 per cent in their total sales during January. The real figure stood at 43,316 units during the month as compared to 52,628 units during the same period last year.
The good news, however, was that domestic sales were up although marginally by 2.4 per cent. As compared to last year when the figures stood at 29,601 units, this time around the units were at 30,306.
Auto manufacturer’s records plunges up in October sales

This announcement was made by company's managing director and chief executive officer H W Park on Friday.

Hyundai India joins hands with Vijaya Bank

Hyundai labour dispute decision on Sept 13

It has been once again that the decision of the labour dispute among Hyundai and its workers has been deferred. with Tamil Nadu Labour Minister T M Anbarasan seeking more time to prepare a report on the issue, it is to be mentioned here that the decision is being postponed for the thirds time which is focusing on reinstating 35 dismissed workers of the Hyundai Motor India.
General Secretary of Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) A Soundararajan said that though the workers didn't like the decision to postpone the final verdict but they had no other choice.
Santa Fe coming in October

While Hyundai has been unlucky for the past two attempts that it has made in the SUV segment, with the launch of Santa Fe planned for October this year, the company is expecting to be third time lucky in the domestic market.
As the industry watchers expect the product to be priced in the range of Rs 22-24 lakh, it has been learned that the company is targeting the festive season in October for the launch.
In fact, Hyundai motors India's Director – Sales & Marketing, Arvind Saxena said that the company is looking at the month of October as the month of launch for the SUV Santa Fe in the Indian market.
Hyundai India announces a price hike

The Indian subsidiary of the Korean auto major, Hyundai Motor Corporation, Hyundai Motor India limited has recently said that the company will be raising its prices by close to 1-1.2% across all its models in its portfolio.
While the hike in the prices has come up because of the rising input costs, it is to be mentioned here that the company hinted earlier this month that it may hike it prices in the short-run.
Arvind Saxena, director of marketing & sales for Hyundai motors India Limited said that the hike in prices has come up because of the hike in raw material prices in the Indian market.
