Court Approves Rahul-Shweta Mahajan’s Divorce
Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, will formally part ways with his partner Shweta on Saturday.

The Gurgaon Sessions Court gave its approval on Friday to the divorce appeal filed by Rahul and Shweta.

District and sessions judge Ramendra Jain asked the pair whether they ever thought of any settlement during the last six months after they granted them divorce after both parties mutually agreed on the move as per section 13(B) of Hindu Marriage Act.

They both rejected the chance of any settlement. The judge then allowed them not to appear before the court on Saturday.

Shweta’s lawyer Harish Malhotra, said, “We as their lawyers will be appearing in court for the pronouncement of the judgment.”

While answering to a question, Malhotra added that Shweta told the court that Shweta does not claim anything from Rahul nor would she do so in future time.

Previously, Shweta moved the court seeking termination of their marriage on December 13, 2007, but, the court directed both on January 24 to stay separately for six months and then to appear before the court before it pronounced the order.

Speaking to the media, Shweta said, “There are no hard feelings against each other as the decision to part ways was mutual. We would continue to be good friends. I would continue to be a professional pilot for the time to come. I have thought nothing about any marriage plans.”

Rahul who appeared outside after spending about half-an-hour in the court told, “As far as old memories are concerned, I will always cherish them. Shweta and I would continue to be good friends.”

The couple married on August 29, 2006.
