Defence minister getting impatient over LCA delays
India's union Defence minister A. K. Antony has said that he is getting impatient over the delays in the deliveries of India's indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), which is named Tejas, has been in development stages for more than two decades now. He took up the matter at the international seminar on the eve of Aero India 2013 on the title, "Challenges in Design to Deployment of Aerospace Products".
He politely blamed the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the incomplete project after much delay. He said that he is happy with the achievements of premier military research organisation but said that there are some problems relating to the delays in delivery.
The LCA fighter aircraft was earlier scheduled for delivery in 2008. Tejas is a joint project of HAL and DRDO and the defense minister has already pulled up Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for delays in delivery.
Meanwhile, More than 700 companies are expected to participate in Aero India 2013 in Bangalore. The organisers also said that 78 countries will send their delegations to the event compared to 45 countries in the previous year. India's main defence and civil-aviation event is scheduled to begin in Bangalore on Wednesday.
