Delhi to face water woes todayAccording to the confirmations received from the water department i. e. Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi will supposedly be under a water shortage from today as water supply to the city from Upper Ganga canal has been hindered by an agitating group of Jats in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

The mob belongs to the Upper Ganga Canal at Abupur from where the water comes to Sonia Vihar and to the goes through Bhagirathi Water Treatment plants in the city catering to 40 per cent requirement of total water in Delhi region.

As reported from a senior DJB official, "It is a very serious situation. The water supply will be affected in many parts of Delhi. The Chief Secretary is holding talks with officials in Uttar Pradesh to restore water supply."

He further added that the two plants are very vital as they cater to 40 per cent of the total water requirement of the city.
