Delhi Reports 2 New Dengue Cases
Dengue has already made a comeback this year, with two fresh cases reported in the National Capital during the initial week of March.
Two people, comprising a medical doctor, tested positive for the deadly fever at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The MCD is still making attempts to establish if the victims contracted Dengue in the city.
While the MCD is still in the throes of buying anti-larvicides to put control over the spread of dengue, the two dengue cases tested positive for the illness on Tuesday, hinting that vector-borne illnesses may have hit Delhi earlier than projected.
In 2010, the initial case of dengue was reported in the month of June, and 6,229 people contracted dengue, which resulted in eight demises.
According to an MCD official, "Whether they contracted the disease in Delhi or somewhere else is yet to be ascertained."
"It's an unusual development. Right now we can't give out the exact cause," the MCD official added.
