Jitendra is in charge of energy in latest portfolio reshuffle

Shanti Kumar Dhariwal is the new home minister of Rajasthan and Jitendra Singh the energy minister. Two days after his first cabinet expansion, chief minister Ashok Gehlot reshuffled the portfolios among his team on Monday lavishing Dhariwal with some important departments that he had kept with himself, until now.

Gehlot who earlier had 38 ministries with him has retained finance, planning and civil aviation portfolios. After the reshuffle, he now has 12 ministries with him.

Besides home, Dhariwal has been given the additional charge of urban development and housing ministry and also heads the local self-government that deals in municipalities. He remains minister of law and parliamentary affairs. Political heavyweight Dr Jitendra Singh who represents the Gurjars, heads the plum portfolios of energy, IT, disaster management and higher education.

Rajendra Pareek is the new minister for industries. He takes over the responsibility from Dhariwal. He heads the NRI department and the crucial excise department that has remained one of the core sectors for the Gehlot government.

Among the ministers of state (with independent charge), Pramod Jain Bhaya has been given the public works department and science and technology, Ramlal Jat gets forest and environment portfolio with mines while Babulal Nagar heads, food and civil supplies, dairy and technical education in agriculture.

Golma Devi has been given home guards and civil defence in addition to the khadi department that she heads. Ashok Bairwa is the information and public relations minister and also is in-charge of elections department.
