DLF Faces Charges of Law Violation

DLF Faces Charges of Law ViolationEight lawsuits have been filed against the real estate developing giant DLF by the DLF Park Place Residents Welfare Association. The Company expects that Competition Commission of India (CCI) will pass a similar judgment to that of the one passed on August 16.

The earlier judgment ordered the Company to pay out a fine of Rs 630 crore, but the CCI does not want to pass the same judgment again. The fine was imposed on the Company against the lawsuit filed by the Belaire Owner's Association. The charges made on DLF are holding a major portion of Park Palace in Gurgaon and violating the Section 4 of Competition Act.

The residents of the DLF Park Place accused the Company for building 1,560 flats instead of 960 that it had proposed. The over construction resulted in making the area less spacious than what the Company had claimed and also, the project took time in completion, resulting in a monetary loss of the customers. The DLF authorities assured that they would file case against the judgment in the court, as they believe that the Company has not violated any law.

As per the Commission, "Cease and desist from formulating and imposing unfair conditions in its agreements" with the buyers and to "modify unfair conditions".
