DLF to sell property to raise funds

DLF GroupThe country's largest property developer, DLF, has chalked out plans to raise funds worth Rs 1,900 crore by the end of current financial year, selling its hotel plots and wind business. The Chief Executive Director of DLF Group, Mr. Rajeev Talwar, at a CII banking conference, said: "The sale of our land parcels has already fetched us Rs 1,000 crore and we expect another Rs 1,000 crore in the coming months. Talks for selling our wind power business are also on track and we should be able to get Rs 900 crore through its sale."

Mr. Talwar hailed measures taken by the Union government to help the real estate industry, and said that reduction in home loan interest rates will help the ailing realty industry to sell plots at adequate margin.

The realtor, currently under debt of over Rs 14,000 crore on March 31, will sell 21 out of its total 40 plots, in a bid to raise Rs 5,500 crore by the end of this fiscal, selling land parcels and other non-core businesses of the company.

The firm, which announced 25 per cent reduction in realty prices, will not increase property prices in coming months. Confirming the commitment, Mr. Talwar said: "We will stick to our current prices, as we want to support the government's attempt to provide homes to more and more people."

Stocks of DLF surged 7.72% and closed at Rs 300.10 in recent trading at Bombay Stock Exchange.
