Doctors halting online patient health record system
According to British Medical Association, the computer-based Summary Care Records are being set up at "break-neck speed", many a times without patients' knowledge.
For around 50 million patients, it will have a systematic medical records system and quicker computer network links.
Although the plans have received repeatedly unfavorable criticism about security fears and a lack of enthusiasm amongst doctors for the high technology.
Doctors and leaders require parts of the program to be suspended, which they have demanded from the government.
As per the letter written to the health minister, the British Medical Affiliation requested further individual assessment of pilot plans launched to test the system.
The primary record includes inside information on allergic reactions, medication and adverse effects.
Therefore, data to patients is given by a letter before their details go on the system which gives them an opportunity to opt out.
It says some patients are unaware that they are getting these records. It also mentioned that opting out should be easier.
