Early 2011 will mark the launch of Project Canvas

BBCReports coming from BBC-led Project Canvas states that the launch of this event has been scheduled for 2011.

The event organised at Intel's Shaping the Future of TV conference in London, made the chief technology officer of Project Canvas, Anthony Rose claim that the IPTV service is scheduled for release in the early 2011.

Considered to be one of the 'best of breeds' of TV platform Rose stated: "Getting the parties together is a remarkable feat in the first place. My team has a good deal of technical work to do. I can't talk about the timescales given before."

Rose added that the Project Canvas shall be made available for mobile phones as well.

It will consist of a website where one can select from the listings and choose their favorite shows which will be directed straight to your box.

Quickly responding to this he added that at the moment the service shall be restricted to TV only.

The partners in this project are BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five, and telecom service providers TalkTalk, BT and Arqiva.
