Eight-time RJD- MLA resigns from Bihar Assembly

Eight-time RJD- MLA resigns from Bihar AssemblyPatna, Mar 24 : Eight-time Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Ramai Ram resigned from the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday.

Ram, who was representing the Bochaha (SC) Assembly constituency, said that the RJD has deviated from the path of social justice and secularism and this had led him to resign.

"I won Bochaha seat several times for the RJD, but since the party has deviated from the path of social justice and secularism and Rabri Devi has also failed to do justice to the post of Leader of Opposition and has proved to be an inefficient leader, I cannot remain in the party anymore," Ram said in his faxed message to Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary.

The Speaker has accepted Ram's resignation letter with immediate effect.

Ram has joined the Congress along with Sadhu Yadav to contest from the Gopalganj (SC) Lok Sabha seat.

Earlier in the day, Ram described RJD chief Lalu Prasad as a "habitual betrayer" and said the Union Railway Minister was now comparing him with filth.

Ramai also charged Prasad for betraying the Congress.

"He fooled Sonia Gandhi. Now that Sadhu Yadav and I have joined the Congress, we will ensure that the Congress is revived in the state," he said. (ANI)
