Eircom’s revenues fall 6% to €361 million in December quarter
Eircom has said that its revenues has fallen 6 per cent to _361 million during the quarter from October to December, 2012. The company said that the earnings for the month fell 8 per cent to _119 million and its operating costs fell _157 million, which is lower 7 per cent over the previous year due to company's efforts to improve savings.
Richard Moat, chief financial officer of Eircom said that the company is offering a redundancy scheme since January and it is expecting about 600 people to leave the company and further boost savings in recent times. The company said that its total customer base was recorded at 2,442,000 as of December of 2012.
In the retail sector, the company's customers stood at 2,050,000, which including 1,086,000 mobile customers. Eircom said that it added 2,000 retail broadband customers and its total broadband customers increased to 461,000. Eircom said that the quarter from October to December was the first to record a growth in the number of broadband customers since the previous seven quarters.
Eircom's chief executive Herb Hribar pointed out that the company is working to reduce its customers losses, revenue decline and profitability erosion and that the business is performing in line with expectations.
