Elections under Musharraf will hardly be fair: Benazir

Lahore, Nov 15: Former Prime Minister Benazir BhuttoFormer Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has said that elections promised by President General Pervez Musharraf before January 9 could "hardly be fair" under his rule.

"Musharraf will continue to be the head of the ruling party in an open field, while all other actors are behind bars, " she said, referring to herself and other political leaders who were rounded up.

Bhutto vowed to make another attempt to hold a ‘long march’ from Lahore to Islamabad to protest the state of emergency imposed by Musharraf, a plan that was responsible for the authorities detaining her in the first place, she said.

"Whenever I come out of here I will lead the march. The freedom march will go ahead, " Bhutto said.

"These tactics make me more determined to reach out to the people, " she added.

"It is a march to end military rule, it is a march to return government to the people of Pakistan, " she said. (ANI)
