EMC Unveils New EMC Clariion CX4 Series Of Midrange Storage Systems
A new midrange of storage systems was unveiled by the EMC Corporation on Tuesday, with the introduction of four models in the series of EMC CLARiiON CX4.
The names of the models are CX4120, CX4240, CX4-480 and CX4-960. The company is hopeful that these new models will manage and consolidate information while consuming least amount of energy and giving an option of a flash memory.
The new series, which has been launched is ideal for the virtual server environments according to the company, as it includes features like like 64 bit EMC CLARiiON FLARE® storage application, UltraFlex™ technology, dual fibre channel, low power one terabyte SATA disk drives, Virtual Provisioning capabilities and Built-in disk spin down capabilities. To add more, EMC gives support to Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), which is a part of all CX4 systems.
There are yet more exclusive features, which have been included in this new series. It is integrated with flash technology, VMware Site Recovery Manager and RSA enVision®.

With this next generation of systems, we’ve extended our technology leadership and have widened the competitive gap even further,” reported David Donatelli, President of the EMC Storage Division.
EMC would make the new series of CLARiiON CX4 available through itself and its Velocity Program Partners and Velocity Authorized Service Network (ASN) Partners. This new series would also be sold by Dell and Fujitsu Siemens Computers under the brand Dell/EMC and Fibrecat respectively.
