The six crew members aboard Endeavour space shuttle have begun making preparations for landing on Earth after their mission at the International Space Station (ISS).

Endeavour with its crew members, including Commander Mark Kelly, pilot Greg Johnson, spacewalkers Andrew Feustel, Michael Fincke and Greg Chamitoff, and Italian astronaut Roberto Vittori are expected to land on June 1 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The crew was expected to begin de-orbit preparations at 9:26 p. m. ET and close Endeavour's payload bay doors at 10:49 p. m. If the things as planned, the shuttle will land on runway 15 of the Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing Facility at 2:35 am ET.

Endeavour final mission to the ISS involved delivery of supplies, equipment and experiments to the space station. The space shuttle had launched from the Kennedy Space Center on May 16 after repeated delays and has attached itself to the ISS on May 18.

The shuttle carried $2 billion astrophysics experiment called the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, which is being used to identify dark matter, cosmic rays and antimatter galaxies. The shuttle also delivered other supplies for the station to prepare it for the future.

Endeavour will be retired after landing and NASA will have its final crewed mission, under which, the space shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to liftoff on July 8.
