ESS Gets Broadcast Rights For Olympics 2012

ESPN has got the broadcast rights for next Olympics. These exclusive television rights cover cable and satellite television with the International Olympic Committee for the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic Games.

These rights will equip ESPN to telecast in 22 countries across the Indian subcontinent and South East Asia along with EPSN will give complete coverage of the Olympics.

This deal also includes a simultaneous transmission on IPTV and Mobile TV is also a part of the deal for sports enthusiasts residing in 22 markets across Asia.The sports channel will give 200 hours of coverage for the London Games and over 60 hours of coverage for the Winter games. ESPN STAR Sports will broadcast a special progarmme based on the Olympic golden moments from over 30,000 hours of Olympic Games archives.

ESPN Star Sports managing director Manu Sawhney said that the channel is extremely pleased with the association with the International Olympic Committee. He added that this is the first time that IOC has awarded the rights to a pay-TV platform across this region and it is a testament to our commitment of reaching out to a wide audience base across Asia with the most interesting and compelling programming. He claimed that the channel is committed to promote the spirit of the Olympic Games.
