EU parliament refuses to allow screening of anti-Islam film

FitnaAmsterdam - The European parliament on Wednesday refused to allow the screening of an anti-Islam short film in the European Union parliament building in Strasbourg.

Geert Wilders, the maker of the film and leader of the Dutch anti- immigration Freedom Party (PVV), called the decision "censorship."

Wilders had been invited to show the film Fitna in the European parliament by British lawmaker Gerard Batten of the anti-European Independent Party.

Fitna, released on the internet on March 27, attacks what rightwing leader believes is the spread of radical Islam and the "Islamization" of the Netherlands. (dpa)
