European share trading opened on volatile note

Frankfurt - European shares are ending a tumultuous trading week
Friday on a volatile note after a late surge on Wall Street and mixed
performance by stocks across Asia.

After closing down 5 per cent on Thursday, Europe's blue-chip Stoxx
50 edged up 1.3 per cent to 2,165 in early trading Friday amid rising
banking stocks.

However, while Europe's leading stock market in London gained 1.47
per cent in early trading, other national bourses recorded bigger rises
with Paris CAC 40 index jumping 4.37 per cent.

In the meantime, shares in Frankfurt also rose more than 4 per cent as Friday trading got under way. (dpa)
