External Affairs Minister on two-day Oman visit from today

New Delhi, Jan 13: The External Affairs Minister Pranab MukherjeeThe External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is on two days official visit to Oman from Sunday. During his visit he will have high-level bilateral talks and inaugurate the new Indian Embassy complex in Muscat.

According to official sources in Muscat, the External Minister will meet senior leaders, including Oman ruler Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Construction work for the new embassy started in June 2006 and was completed last year.

Some MOU’s are also expected to be signed between the two countries.

The External Affairs Minister is also expected to address a meeting of the Indian Ambassadors from the gulf, west Asia and North Africa region during his visit.

Earlier in December, a high-level Omani delegation visited India which was led by Deputy Prime Minister Sayyid Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al Said, during which four agreements were signed, to promote cooperation in the field of small and medium enterprises growth, entrepreneurship and higher education.
