London, July 28 : Michael Jackson's fans want their idol to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Devout followers of the King of Pop have launched an online petition seeking the nomination for the late star who died aged 50 on June 25.

Admirers believe the singer should be honoured for his charity work and "lifelong dedication to the well being of humanity", reports Sky News.

More than 2,000 people were said to have joined the campaign, initiated by Los Angeles student Anneliese Nichole Brown.

A similar petition was also signed by 10,000 fans despite the fact that the nominations for the prize are not made as per the public demand. (ANI)
