A filmgoer in Bangalore passes 'Phoonk' test

A newspaper on Tuesday reported that a man booked an entire cinema hall in Bangalore to view the Ram Gopal’s latest Phoonk just to prove that he is brave enough.

During the weekend, Pawan Ponanna, a 30-year-old man booked a 227-seat hall in city multiplex and watched “Phoonk”, while doctor on call and security personnel were waiting outside. After the movie the man said, “I never felt scared, not even for a moment.”

Phoonk basically describes the tale of a family which has been traumatized by Black Magic. Earlier prior to the release of the movie on August 22, a contest had been announced that the movie made by Ram Gopal is so scary that if someone watched it all alone in a theatre, he could win Rs 500,000. However, this contest was not advertised on the film’s official website.

The newspaper also reported that Ponanna had to pay Rs 47,000 to book the tickets, and he took up this challenge after he had read an interview of director Ram Gopal Varma.
