London, Apr 3: Fiona MacKeown, the mother of British teenager Scarlette Keeling who was found dead at a Goa beach on February 18, has said that she wanted the Goa Police to be sued for trying to cover up her daughter’s ‘murder’.

Criticising the (Indian) system for being “corrupt”, she said that officers in Britain had agreed to carry out a post mortem on the body.

She wanted tests carried out in case forensic results from the two post mortems that were conducted in Goa were conflicting.

“The police in England are going to do a third autopsy today. I hope the India police are prosecuted for lying from the beginning. The police system is so corrupt when the press pressure dies down they will start messing about with the forensic results,” The Telegraph quoted her as saying at her home in north Devon.

She also welcomed the news that India's investigating agency the CBI would be taking over the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death.

Scarlette’s half-naked body was found at the Anjuna Beach, where she was on holiday. The Goa Police initially said that Scarlett's dies due to accidental drowning. But, a murder investigation began after a second post mortem examination, carried out following pressure from Miss MacKeown, showed that she had been attacked.

Miss MacKeown has alleged that police officials covered up evidence on her daughter's death to protect the tourism trade and drug dealers.

Two men have been so far arrested over the killing. (ANI)
