The enormous 7.8 quake, which hit Fiordland two weeks ago, has left its aftershocks, which are still being felt there.

This morning, two quakes measuring 5 or more on the Richter scale, were experienced.

The Richter scale measured the first quake at 5.1 with a focal depth of
12km, which struck 110km west of Tuatapere this morning at 7.59.

Following this, a quake measuring 5 on the Richter scale, struck up to as far east as Otatara nearly 45 minutes later.

With the focal depth of 33km, the quake had an epicentre of 130km east
of Tuatapere. The citizens also experienced another quake measuring 4.5
on the Richter scale struck at 8.15, again 110km west of Tuatapere,
which was felt as far east as Manapouri.

On 15th July, the enormous quake which struck Fiordland measured 7.8 on
the Richter scale. Though it was the largest recorded world-wide
earthquake this year; luckily it did not cause much damage due to its
remote location.
