Fire kills four on Indonesia's Bali island

Bali, Indonesia - Four people were burned to death when a fire gutted two shop-houses on the Indonesian resort island of Bali Thursday morning.

Another person was seriously injured after jumping from the second-floor to escape the blaze in Bali's Badung business centre.

The fire broke out at 6 am (2200 GMT Wednesday) and extinguished immediately after at least 11 fire trucks were deployed.

Witnesses said the bodies of four people of the same family, including a 6-year-old boy, were discovered on the second floor.

Local police officers, with the help of firefighters, evacuated the bodies and brought them to Denpasar's Sanglah general hospital for autopsies.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. (dpa)
