The player named Silvit Tongper has already been quarantined.
While confirming this development, K H Lakiang (Director, Health Services) said: "Today we got the report of the throat swab from the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases and it was positive for H1N1 virus."
Apart from this, the state government has also isolated Sport Authority of India (SAI) complex in Shillong.
The health authorities are trying their best to map out all persons who were in direct contact with the boy and make certain that they underwent screening.
Moreover, as a precautionary measure, the state government had issued an advisory asking its people to avoid traveling to swine-flu affected places. It also had asked the central government to set up a diagnostic centre for testing the H1N1 virus in the North-East.
