Records have indicated that lawyers for Florida's Casey Anthony have been investigating her father in connection with the 2008 murder of her daughter Caylee.

The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported on Tuesday that documents obtained by a local television station indicate defense attorneys have spent thousands of dollars on a private investigation of George Anthony.

A legal analyst who viewed the documents said it looks like the defense is trying to discredit George Anthony or possibly blame him for his granddaughter's slaying.

In her grand jury hearing, Anthony testified against his daughter.

It has also been reported that records show a private eye hired by her defense team investigated a suicide attempt by George Anthony the month after Caylee's body was found.

Caylee Anthony disappeared two months before her third birthday in June 2008.

The report further noted that her mother Casey failed to report the toddler missing for more than a month. (With Inputs from Agencies)
