Four Clouded Leopard Cubs enjoying their Early Days of Life at Washington Zoo

Seattle's KIRO-TV reports that four clouded leopard cubs are doing well at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington. Their health is good and the rate at which they are growing is satisfactory. Their eyes have not opened yet and the practiced hands of caring zookeepers help them feed from bottles.

Weight of the smallest of the cubs is 11.11 ounces and the largest is 12.41 ounces. The progress is pleasing for staff biologist Andy Goldfarb, who has the expertise of working with exotic cats, owing to his three decades of experience.

He said they are eating well and their weight is also increasing at good pace. Activeness level in all of them is also fine. Chai Li gave birth to all of them on May 12. The zoo is yet to make an announcement about when the cubs will be available for public view and what would be the procedure to name them and when.

About two hours are spent in one feeding session for all four cubs. Feeding is given to all of them every three hours.

“These cats are precious. Clouded leopards are endangered, and there is constant pressure on the species from poaching, habitat loss and other human-animal.
