Four dengue deaths in the capital

dengueThe recent havoc caused by the dengue has resulted in death of four individuals in the capital.

The cases seem to be increasing with 75 new cases have been registered to this moment taking the total to 1370.

The sudden rise in case of dengue has caused a concern in the national capital, soon before the Commonwealth Games when both the athletes and the local authorities seem to be gearing up for the event.

It appears to be the very first time after a long wait of 12 years when the dengue cases have gone up the mark of 1,000 with each passing day 10 new cases are registered in government and private hospitals.

According to health committee chairman, MCD, Dr V K Monga, said, "The disease peaks during mid-September and October. We are expecting a surge in the number of dengue cases. This year we are likely to report more cases than what was reported in 2006."

At the moment preventive steps are taken in order to take care of the removal of mosquito menace. These steps include "source reduction, anti-larval measures using temephos etc. and fogging."

A statement by Dr Y K Gupta, AIIMS speaker focused that people are geared up to combat with any kind of situation and at the moment 16 confirmed dengue patients admitted in AIIMS. But, the situation is now under control.
