Free wall charger & $2K installation credit available with Rivian inventory purchases

Irvine, California-headquartered electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian Automotive has rolled out a tempting offer to delight potential buyers who might be planning to buy a new R1T pickup truck from the company’s existing inventory. The tempting deal includes a complimentary Level 2 wall charger, valued at around $800, along with a generous installation credit of $2,000 that is often charged for getting the charger set up and operational. This exclusive deal is available only for the brand’s ready-to-ship Rivian R1T electric pickup trucks. Moreover, it is available only until the end of this year, as detailed on the company's official website.

The Level 2 wall charger provided by the American manufacturer can pump up to 11.5 kilowatts (kW) through its CCS connector and 24-foot cable. It draws from a single-phase, 240-volt, 48-amp power source. When connected to a R1T pickup, this charger boasts an impressive charging rate of up to 25 miles per hour (mph), offering efficient battery top-ups for the vehicle in comparatively short times.

Remarkably, the brand’s inventory vehicles often ship within a shorter timeframe of one to six weeks once order is placed. This is in a stark contrast to the longer waiting period of approximately four months for custom builds. Thus, this new offer not only quickens the process of ownership but also sweetens the deal for potential R1T buyers.

However, it is also essential to note here that Rivian's install credit, capped at $2,000, might demand additional costs beyond this figure, which buyers of the inventory vehicles would be responsible for covering. In essence, this complete offer package amounts to a considerable cost of $2,800, which makes the purchase of the R1T pickup from the inventory even more enticing for potential customers.

The aforementioned marketing move by Rivian mirrors a strategy employed by a number of other automakers, including Hyundai, which made a similar offer earlier this year, albeit on a smaller scale. To be more specific, Hyundai's offer presented in the month of September extended to purchasers or lessees of select models, viz. the 2023 Ioniq 5 e-SUV, 2024 Ioniq 5 e-SUV, 2023 Ioniq 6 e-sedan, 2024 Ioniq 6 e-sedan, and the 2023 Kona Electric. In that offer, the Korean automaker granted a coupon code for a complimentary Level 2 EV charger valued at $549, accompanied by an installation credit of up to $600.
