New Bengali Entertainment Channel Launched By Star India

First regional Bengali entertainment channel, Star Jolsha, was launched on Thursday by Star India Private Limited.

An array of programs including fiction, non-fiction, mythology, movies and reality shows will be telecast on this new channel.

Star India chief executive officer Uday Shankar feels that they will create a revolution in Bengali entertainment with the launching of Star Jolsha.

“The Bengali regional genre has shown a substantial growth in the past two years in comparison with other regional entertainment markets and with this new channel we will try to bring a new level of diversity to the world of entertainment,” informed J.C.Giri, regional channel head, Star India.

Kamal Hassan informed that for the present venture, Raaj Kamal Films International has signed an agreement with Pyramid Saimira Group. The date to launch this multi-dollar project will be announced soon. Earlier, Hassan’s “Dasavanthram” had been received well at the box-office.

It's Toronto Calling For Akki’s 'Singh is King'

'Singh is King' has been invited for a gala presentation at the Toronto International It's Toronto Calling For Akki’s 'Singh is King' Film Festival. The festival runs September 4 to 13 in Toronto.

'Singh is King' will be one of the 20 special films to be screened in the festival. The producer of the film has received invitation from Toronto International Film Festival Group (TIFFG) to participate in the festival.

The producer Vipul Shah expressed happiness on the success of his film. He termed it as an honor for India to get invited for such prestigious international event.

RPI Men Turn Color’s Office Upside-Down At Andheri, Mumbai

A new direction to the controversy of Ramdas Athawale, president of Republican Party of India (RPI) was taken, who said that the producer of Big Boss2, Colors GEC and Endemol India, denied him to participate in the show since he is a Dalit. Earlier, Athawale had threatened to sue the channel when he was rejected as a participant of the second season of the reality show Big Boss2.

In an agitated manner, his party men threw stones and turned the channel office upside-down at Andheri, Mumbai. The party workers had arrived in cars and harmed the building of that has the channel’s offices on Parsi Punchayet Road.
