One in two Aussies chats on the loo!Melbourne, Jan 19 : Almost 48 per cent of Aussies use their cellphones while on the toilet, according to a new survey.

The survey commissioned by Microsoft across Australia, China, India, Japan and Taiwan also revealed that 30 per cent of people use their mobiles to flirt with someone other than their spouse or partner.

One in two Aussies admitted on using the mobile phone while on the toilet, compared to 66 per cent of Chinese people.

According to the Independent, teachers at one school where pupils are said to be "seriously involved in gangs" were "aware of young people wearing bullet-proof/stab-proof vests in school".

It is believed that many students as young as 16 are involved in gangs and the number has significantly doubled in the past five years.

Turkey's Erdogan in Brussels for talks on Gaza, Iran, EU plans

TurkeyBrussels - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the European Union's capital on Monday for talks on Iran, Gaza and his country's EU hopes, officials in Brussels said.

Erdogan was due to meet the EU's highest foreign-policy official, Javier Solana, to "discuss EU-Turkey relations and other foreign policy issues, in particular the latest developments in the Middle East and Iran," a statement from Solana's office said.

Captain named suspect in Indonesian ferry disaster

Jakarta - Police have named the captain of a passenger ferry that sank off the Indonesian province of West Sulawesi a suspect for negligence in the accident that left more than 220 people missing and believed dead, officials said Monday.

Only 35 people including the captain were known to have survived, and nine bodies were found after the accident, leaving more than
220 others unaccounted for.

South Sulawesi police spokesman Heri Sabuansuari said the captain, identified only as Sabir, was a suspect for negligence that caused loss of life.

If found guilty, Sabir could face to a maximum of five years imprisonment.
