Indian Wells, California - Roger Federer and Darren Cahill have gone their separate ways after a trial coaching run in Dubai was scuppered by a potentially killing travel schedule for the Australian.
Federer, second seed at the Indian Wells Masters, whose ATP play begins Thursday, revealed that Cahill had withdrawn from the potential all-star arrangement due to the tyranny of travel on the tour.
"We decided not to do it," said the Swiss player Wednesday after a hitting session. Federer said he will continue to work with Swiss Davis Cup skipper Severin Luethi.
Indian Wells, California - Roger Federer and Darren Cahill will debut a "dream team" lineup as the Australian takes the coaching reins with the Swiss at the Indian Wells Masters which begins on Wednesday.
Federer's management confirmed that Cahill, former mentor to Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi, will work together for an unspecified time.
The 43-year-old Australian and the world number 2 have a psychological bond going back more than a decade.
Hamburg - Spain's Rafael Nadal continues to head an unchanged ATP men's tennis rankings Top 10 issued by the ruling body on Monday, followed by Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
At the top, Nadal has 14,360 points, while Federer stands on 11,000.

Kaohsiung, Mar 8 : Indian Tennis sensation Somdev Devvarman on Sunday steered India to the third round of the Asia/Oceania Group I Davis Cup competition by beating Yen-Hsun Lu 6-2 6-1 6-3.
The victory gave the visitors a 3-1 lead against Chinese Taipei.
It was an intense battle from the start with Somdev got the first chance of a break point.
Lu saved the first two break points in the fourth game but Somdev kept hitting a stunning double-handed backhand winner to break Lu, taking a 3-1 lead.
Lu made many unforced errors, which cost him the game.
Malmo, Sweden/Tel Aviv - Israeli tennis player Andy Ram has described the protests against his country at the Davis Cup in Sweden as a "sad moment for tennis, sport and for Israel," in an article published by Israel's daily Yediot Achronot on Sunday.
Ram wrote that he had never encountered such hatred and mixing of sport and politics in his entire sporting career.
"These events have changed my view of Sweden completely and I doubt whether I even want to return here," he said.
