GMG appoints CFO Miller as its new interim chief executive
Guardian Media Group, a British publishing firm, announced today that it has appointed its Chief Financial Officer Andrew Miller as interim chief executive of the company. Andrew Miller will replace Carolyn McCall by July 1 this year. GMG has to take this decision as Carolyn McCall is moving to easyJet Plc as chief executive. Mrs. McCall will leave GMG by the end of June.
Andrew Miller, 43, joined Guardian Media Group in August last year as CFO. Prior to that, he was working in Trader Media Group as CFO. Trader Media Group is also jointly owned by Guardian Media Group. Miller had previously worked at senior positions at Pepsi, Bass and Proctor & Gamble.
Guardian said that the process of recruiting McCall's successor is being led by a nominations sub-committee chaired by Amelia Fawcett, chairwoman of Guardian Media.
Other persons in the sub-committee are Liz Forgan, chairwoman of the Scott Trust, and non executive directors John Bartle and Neil Berkett.
"This group is in the process of appointing executive search consultants and will consider both internal and external candidates," said Guardian Media in a statement.
