Google and its WebTV venture
Google is soon to partner with Intel and Sony to roll out a WebTV venture during Google's developer conference, I/O 2010 that starts from 19th to the 20th of May in San Francisco.
The reports finalised by The Financial Times names the new platform as "Smart TV". This will utilise Intel's Atom platform and work hand in glove with Google's Android OS instead of Microsoft's Windows CE or any other software platform.
This move has taken industry watchers by surprise as the company bypassed its usual ARM based processor and has moved ahead with Intel Atom platform.
In lieu of this Intel's CEO stated that this move will claim to be the biggest single change in television since it went color.
Also this will give an upper hand to Intel who just might introduce its Moorestown platform and the just announced Z600 processor.
