Google’s ban on two developers cast doubt on Android open natureThe ban imposed by Google on two well-known developers for Android has raised serious questions about the open-source nature of the platform.

Google removed the accounts of Yong Zhang and his offerings including popular apps such as Nesoid, Snesoid, Gensoid, N64oid, Ataroid, Gearoid, and Gameboid from the Android market last week.

Another developer known as ZodTTD also said that Google has removed his apps and offerings from the platform, which has emerged as the dominant platform for smartphones. ZodTTD’s PSX4Droid application was amongst the best selling app in the market.

Google sent formal letters to the developers saying their accounts were suspended due to a violation of Android Market policies. The move as come to a shock for the developers, who are engulfed with a sea of customer emails about unavailability of their offerings.
