Google updates spam filter in lieu of JavaScript attack
Google has reported upgraded its Postini e-mail filtering engine in lieu of blocking the latest version of JavaScript attack, considered responsible for the spam attacks happening over the internet.
According to the reports made by Google it has been stated that the latest JavsScript attack is more of a hybrid version that falls in the region of being a virus and spam e-mail, that employs seemingly innocent e-mail messages that keeps the JavaScript hidden.
The blog posted on Google came out as: "Since the messages contained classic JavaScript which generates code, the messages could change themselves and take multiple forms, making them challenging to identify."
It was further seen that there has been voluminous increase of spam's by 16 per cent from Q1 2010 to Q2 2010 which when compared with Q2 2009, has reported of spam levels going down by 15 per cent.
Google adds that virus levels had soared up by 250 per cent since Q2 2009, but have risen by 3 per cent from Q1 2010 to Q2 2010.
The company adds that Spam and virus volumes is continuing to rise this year and the recent trends state that the spammers are very much active and subsequently botnets add to increased levels of spam and virus traffic.
