It has been a year since the bodies of the nine terrorists, who were gunned down during the 26/11 attacks, were put into JJ Hospital’s mortuary. With no decision on their disposal, they are still lying there at four degrees centigrade temperature.
Dr S. M. Patil, police surgeon in-charge of the bodies, said they had sent several letters to the state home department. “We have not received any response,” he said. Police authorities said they would need to preserve the bodies till the trial is over as they may be required as evidence.
The bodies had been embalmed to prevent decomposition. “The bodies are fine. I check on them often,” said Dr Patil, denying reports that they were rotting.
