
Taking the go green dive to new heights, the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency has chalked out elaborated plans for promoting solar energy in the state. The state has made it compulsory for industries, hospitals and nursing homes, hotels, jail barracks, canteens and housing complexes to make optimum use of solar energy.
The state nodal agency has already installed as many as 1,412 solar water heating systems at various points in the state and more would be installed under its 20000 MW solar power plan. The state has also offered rebates in bills and other incentives for promoting the use of solar energy.
Mahendra Partap Singh, Minister for power and renewable energy, Haryana, said, "Solar water heating technology has emerged as a cost effective and environment friendly option for water heating applications all over the world."
Mr Singh informed that using solar energy is also good for environment point of view as it helps to mitigate the ever increasing global warming. The minister claimed, "A 100 litre solar water heating system could avoid emission of 1.5 tonnes carbon dioxide annually.”
