Heat sucks seven lives, Shimla records highest ever temperatureThe heat waves across the northern and western region has taken seven lives in Shimla, at the same time recorded hottest ever day at 32.4 degree celsius.

According to the census, the recorded temperature of the ‘Queen of the Hills’, Shimla was 8.3 degrees above normal and was .7 degrees more than the earlier highest record of 31.7 degrees in May 20, 2004, said the Met officials.

The officials further confirmed the death of a person due to sunstroke in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, while heat continues to claim lives one each in Jhajjar in Haryana and Pathankot in Punjab.

It was further recorded that the highest temperatures across some places of HP were close to 40 degree Celsius mark.

Meanwhile the MET official states that if this series of events continue it will soon mark an end of the beauty and will destroy the entire flora and fauna of Shimla.
