M.C Konyak, the Minister of Forest, Ecology, Environment and Wildlife and Excise by his presence at the inauguration of a herbal garden and tree plantation program at Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar in Dimapur has been able to inspire the young generation regarding the safety of the environment. He said during the occasion that it is now our duty to protect the environment from danger, otherwise there would be a greater chance of losing it.
On this auspicious occasion he also stated that it is essential to preserve the bio-diversity of the Nagaland. He placed emphasis on the fact that the destruction of the environment would result in loss of value and it should be minimized at all costs.
Since medicinal plants are available in abundance in the state, he also encouraged the people of the state to plant trees, especially medicinal plants, which are advantageous to everyone. He gave importance to the attempts that will be carried out across the state to introduce more Herbal and Botanical gardens. Therefore he felt that this would help the people and also conserve the environment.
Sources said that seven Herbal Gardens have already been recognized in Nagaland in this year and more Herbal Gardens will be generated in the state in future. Experts shared their views abut these herbal plants being good for the environment and can be promoted by exporting herbal medicines.
