Heroes: Movie Review!

Heroes: Movie Review! To cast out a movie from what starts as a mere vague idea in one's mind is akin to casting a gem out of a stone. Yet some people are successful, while others are not. 'Heroes' is one such example, a movie that had all the ingredients to be among the top notch but failed in its attempt to do so.

The Director, Samir Karnik seems to be lost in the idea as to what exactly he wants to convey. The message that the film conveys is that one can serve the nation through different ways but to everyone's disappointment the conclusion is reached after going through the lives of three army officers who have lost their lives fighting for their country.

The movie bears no resemblance to the Walter Salles's The Motorcycle Diaries. The two main characters played by Sohail Khan and Vatsal Seth have been shown as youngsters who are high on adrenaline but low on intellect. The youngsters who are shown pursuing studies in film making are given one chance to make an assignment that will enable them to complete their graduation. The duo falls for an idea to make a film on 'Why not to join Indian Army'. What starts as a quest undeniably becomes a self revelation for the two who go through the lives of army officers, families of which have lost a husband, a brother and a son.

One falls for the movie when the Preity and Salman's story is narrated as the actors have been successful in portraying the emotions in a restrained and nonchalant manner. The pair is the best in the movie, beautifully conveying their heartfelt emotions yet whole movie cannot depend on few moments as the film is noticed going underway after the first story. What follows is Sunny Deol's loss of his brother(Bobby Deol) and predictably his few action packed scenes despite of the fact he is confined to a wheel chair and the loss of a son (Dino Morea) by his parents.

The movie lacks luster due to its failure in editing as it is packaged with too many songs and some unimportant scenes, irritable performances by few, predictable climax, loss of track and slow pace momentum. If only Karnik would have taken some precautions he would have come out with a Block buster movie.
