HI gives 48 more hours to join training

HI gives 48 more hours to join trainingHockey India has given another 48 hours to the players on strike to join the training camp. The camp will be suspended if no one opted to report for training and it will resume later with current or new players as reported by A.K. Mattoo, HI President.

HI had given the deadline of 24 hours yesterday, which is extended by another 48 hours on the request of the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) Vice-President Antonio von Ondarza during press conference.

However, the players have asked for written assurance by HI for cash rewards for their brilliant performances in Azlan Shah Cup, Champions Challenge and Test series wins in 2009 and they will resume training only after receiving written assurance.

Adrian D’Souza stated that they have submitted a written document listing all players who played in 2009 and their payments and incentives on basis of their appearance in the matches.

Prabhjot Singh admitted that they are not demanding for payments right now by the Hockey India, but they want written assurance by HI that their payments and incentives will be paid in future.
