Hit-to-Kill Anti-Tank Missile ‘Nag’ Successfully Test Fired At Pokhran

Hit-to-Kill Anti-Tank Missile ‘Nag’ Successfully Test Fired At Pokhran Indian missile scientists successfully test fired the third generation hit-to-kill anti-tank missile, Nag, at Pokhran test range in Rajasthan on Friday.

This marks the first in a series of winter trials to be conducted by the Army till this month-end. The winter trials would be followed by summer trials.

In his remarks, Nag's Progra Director and Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) Director P. Venugopalan said, “The trial was 100 percent success.”

Venugopalan said that the main objective of the Nag missile has been hit-to-kill the stationary target with 100 percent accuracy.

The Nag missile carried a live warhead and destroyed the stationary target after being unleashed from its carrier, Namica, covering a range of 3.3 kilometers.

The missile has been test-fired a few times in the last week at the Pokhran ranges and these tests have been satisfactory, added the official.

It is expected that the missile would soon be inducted in the Indian Army.

The Army authorities informed the media persons that Nag would be fired against two moving and three fixed targets during December 28, 29 and 30 in Rajasthan.

The indigenously-developed Nag is a two-stage solid propellant missile and each Namica carries 12 missiles with eight of them in ready-to-fire mode.
