Honda To Invest Rs 1,500 Cr In New Plant At Rajasthan

Landmark Honda has decided to invest about Rs 1500 crore in its new HondaHonda To Invest Rs 1,500 Cr In New Plantproduction facility in Rajasthan.

The company expects the production to commence by the next two years (2010).

Honda launched its premium segment car ‘Accord’ in Gujarat on May 27. The company anticipates doubling up its sale in Gujarat in the recent year.

The new production facility in Rajasthan will be the company’s second plant after the Noida plant.

Mr. Munaf Meghani, head of the zonal west office of Honda, said that the company expects around 1.5 lakh units per annum from its new plant.

Previous year the company sold around 3,000 units in Gujarat. However in fiscal 2008-09 the company is estimating sale of more then 5,000 units.

Paras Somani, CEO of Landmark Honda, said, “Out of this total estimated sale, the company expects to sell 600 - Accord - car units in Gujarat.”

Honda’s new - eighth generation car - Accord - is priced at over Rs 17 lakh.

“The company plans to focus more on cities like Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jumagadh and Jamnagar, which has earlier proved to be beneficial market for our products, so this year the company expects around 21% more sales in Saurashtra,” Mr. Somani added.
