Hong Kong shares plunge 6 per cent in early trading Thursday Hong Kong - Hong Kong shares plunged by more than 6 per cent in early trading Thursday following heavy losses overnight on Wall Street.

The blue-chip Hang Seng Index lost 912.59 points, or 6.15 per cent, in the first 15 minutes of trading Thursday, slipping below the 14,000 point barrier to 13,927.57 points.

Shares in Hong Kong surged by more than 3 per cent Wednesday, buoyed by international optimism over Barack Obama's US presidential election victory. The overnight losses on Wall Street darkened investors' moods. (dpa)
